Planning application for overflow car park

We have recently laid shingle on an area of our field which has been used as an overflow car park for several years. Having shingle rather than grass will allow the area to be safer and easier to use for our customers, especially as the winter approaches. The shingle will also allow efficient drainage in wet weather, and our intention is to line the overflow area with new trees and shrubs by the roadside.

Unfortunately, we had not realised that a planning application would need to be submitted for this change, and we are therefore retrospectively submitting a planning application to Chichester District Council.

We would be very grateful to any of our customers who would be able to write a letter of support to help the application pass successfully. We are conscious that the car park will get busier as Christmas approaches, and our new food collection service will also increase the amount of cars using the shop. We are also aware that the car park is used for other local amenities by the local community.

If you are able to write a letter of support, please send your letter to Chichester District Council, Planning Dept, Pallant House, East Pallant, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 1TY.

It is important to quote the reference number 20/02722/FUL in your letter.

This has been an unusual year, and we are grateful for the support of our customers throughout the pandemic. Having an extra overflow car park will help us alleviate the strain on our existing car park as we proceed into winter, especially as on occasion the congestion to park can spill on to the turning off the Main Road.
